To get to know David, we asked him to pen a few words about himself, the hardest thing any writer can ever do!

With an almost three-year transition from Dallas to D.C. coming to an end this summer, I look forward to contributing to the events and activities of the Washington Automotive Press Association. (You guessed it…I’d like to make WAPA great again.) I bring to the conversation roughly a dozen years of automotive retail experience, beginning on a BMW showroom and leaving the retail side at a Saab dealership. In between, I managed Ferrari and Lotus sales outlets, while also selling Hondas and Volvos.

From automotive retail I moved to automotive reporting, offering reviews and industry reporting to a small group of newspapers in suburban Dallas. That work eventually led to writing for the Dallas Observer, Fort Worth Star-Telegram and various online outlets, including Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader and – most recently – Autoblog.

I live with my wife, Tina, in Reston, where we enjoy the company of our son and 4-year old grandson. Tina and I also have a daughter; she lives and works in Los Angeles. The garage – such as it is – includes an older Grand Cherokee (yup, it has a Hemi!), a newer Crosstrek and an almost-visceral Triumph Bonneville.
